Watching the news makes me anxious so I simply don’t do it. I do however believe it’s important to be informed so I subscribe to daily emails that give me objective summaries of world issues. People change slightly after they watch the news to a more anxious version of themselves. The problem is that this is carried with them. This is what it’s like for me. Let’s say I just watched the 9 o’clock news at the table. I can’t eat a bowl of cereal without ruminating on the news and thinking about everything I saw and the perspective of which it came from. With news, I have to identify when fear mongering and other manipulative tactics are going on and prevent myself from getting sucked it. It’s all just too much energy and I don’t even eat cereal. After realizing this about myself, I switched from watching media to reading.
